Who is Traffix?
Traffix is a motor carrier specializing in the movement of less than truckload (LTL) cargo via road service. Our main focus is the transportation of dry commodities between Canada and the United States. Traffix has 53 ft. satellite equipped trucks and trailers driven by company drivers and owner operators under the company name Traffix -The Transportation People.
What areas does Traffix ship to?
We ship primarily from Southern Ontario to the U.S. and back. The bulk of our shipments are within a 1000 mile radius of the Greater Toronto Area. However, we do service all of North America at competitive rates. We normally operate one truck each week to Southern Florida and usually have two to four trips each month to destinations such as California, Texas and the Pacific Northwest. These off-route trips are usually the result of one or more of our shippers having a need for a Traffix truck to deliver important cargo to a destination where a guaranteed arrival time is imperative.
What is your frequency of damages?
We have one of the lowest freight loss ratios in the industry. Because your LTL freight is only handled once between point of origin and point of destination, there is less chance of damage.
How many times will my LTL freight be transferred?
Only once – at our terminal in Milton, Ontario.
How big is your fleet?
We have 25 tractors and 60 trailers, all of which are air-ride equipped.
Is Traffix hazardous materials certified?
No. If you need to ship hazardous materials, our brokerage associate is certified to broker your shipment. You tell us what you need, and he will contact our business affiliates who handle this type of product on a daily basis and know how to move the product under strict guidelines.
What qualifies as hazardous or dangerous material?
These are substances or organisms dangerous to life, health, property or the environment. They may occur naturally or be man made. Trucks hauling hazardous material must bear placards identifying the hazardous classification that apply to the specific materials.
Does Traffix have refrigerated trailers?
No. We do not transport perishable goods.
Is Traffix a Customs Broker?
No, we are a transportation company specializing in transporting LTL freight between Canada and the U.S. Even though we cross the border, being a Customs Broker is a highly specialized field and is strictly audited and governed by both governments.
What is your fuel surcharge (FSC)?
FSC fluctuates with the market. Please call for current percentages.
What does FTL/TL/LTL mean?
FTL – TL (Full Truck Load or Truck Load) is when the trailer is full to capacity with cargo belonging to one shipper and or consignee. LTL (Less Than Truck Load) is a flexible option for smaller shipments. Traffix will move 1-24 pallets/skids and charge by pallet. It’s an excellent option for clients who don’t have a large enough shipment for a fill truck. A standard pallet is 4 feet square x 100 inches high with a maximum weight allowance of 2,000 lbs.
Is Traffix a bonded carrier?
Yes. We are bonded in Canada and the US.
What does “bonded” mean?
Sometimes a shipment is not allowed entry into Canada or the US if the customs officer has found incorrect information on the documentation. If the driver is bonded, customs will allow the driver to put the shipment in bond and take it to a bonded or inland sufferance warehouse where the shipment will wait for the correct documents. Bonded is a term that is also used when a shipment is traveling through a country to get to another country (like a shipment from Canada to Mexico that has to go through the US). Since the product will not be used or consumed in the US, it travels “in bond” under a transit bond through the US and is customs cleared at the US-Mexico port of entry.
Are your drivers FAST CARDED?
Yes, most members of our road team are FAST approved.
Are your drivers on satellite?
Yes. Each truck is equipped with satellite tracking equipment so we know where your freight is at all times.
Will I be credited for late deliveries?
This is an issue that is highly dependent on situation. We will deal with issues on a one-to-one basis.
What do I do if I have a claim?
Please notify us immediately about damages, loss or shortages. Make sure you note it on the Bill of Lading. An “Intent to Claim” form will be forwarded to you. Please note: backup documentation/pictures plus additional information will be required.
How can we reach you after hours?
We are open from 7 a.m. to 7.p.m. (EST) Monday to Friday. In case of emergency, please call our main number at 1 800 388 4352. Our answering service will take the information and forward it to the appropriate contact.
What levels of service does Traffix provide?
We offer regular service, expedited service and Gold Ribbon Service – With Gold Ribbon Service, the delivery time is absolutely guaranteed. Our promise is simple: if we don’t deliver, you don’t pay. Period.
What is a Bill of Lading?
A Bill of Lading is a contract for the transport of goods between the shipper and the carrier. It specifies the carrier's duties and responsibilities for the property.

PIP- Partners in Protection
FAST – Free and Secure Trade
C-TPAT – Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
What is PIP?
Partners in Protection is designed to enlist the cooperation of private industry in efforts to enhance border security, combat organized crime and terrorism, increase awareness of customs compliance issues, and help detect and prevent contraband smuggling. This is accomplished through an agreement called a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
- Shipments and travelers will be processed more quickly
- You will benefit from improved security levels
- Your staff will become more familiar with customs requirements
- Customs will review your security procedures and suggest improvements, if necessary, to help reduce the possibility of your company being used unknowingly for contraband smuggling purposes
- Enhance the reputation of your company by demonstrating a willingness to work with Customs in the fight against drugs and other contraband in Canada
What is FAST?
Free and Secure Trade is a joint Canada-US initiative involving the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the United States Customs Service, and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. FAST supports moving pre-approved eligible goods across the border quickly and verifying trade compliance away from the border. The benefits of FAST include:
- Greater speed and certainty in the clearance of transborder shipments
- Reduced costs of compliance with customs requirements
- A strong and ongoing partnership with the Canadian and US Customs Administrations
What is C-TPAT?
The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism is a joint U.S. government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen overall supply chain and border security. C-TPAT recognizes that Customs can provide the highest level of security only through close cooperation with the ultimate owners of the supply chain, importers, carriers, brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers. Through this initiative, they ask businesses to ensure the integrity of their security practices and communicate their security guidelines to their business partners within the supply chain. This program is similar to the Partners in Protection program that Canada Customs and Revenue Agency has implemented.
